Leo Horoscope for April 2010
This will be a good, solid month that may include quite a bit of travel. The full moon that occurred on March 29 may have sent you packing a short distance, and if so, you seem to have had a goal to complete at that time. In fact, that trip might have been arduous in some way. No matter what you experienced, things will improve this month, as April seems perfect to send you further afield, to points very far from home, possibly even abroad. Spin your compass, dear Leo - it looks like you’ll be heading to the airport.
Travel and relationships with people in countries other than your own will be very fortunate for you now. You will see opportunities arise as soon as the new moon, April 14, appears in the adventuresome sign of Aries. You seem to want to explore those new areas of gain, and rightly so. Aries is a fire sign like your Leo Sun sign, so all the goodness of this new moon will be easily accessible to you. This is a very expansive, growth-inducing vibration that will help you introduce some new elements into your life - friends and business opportunities, not to mention new sights, sounds, and concepts.
If you cannot go to distant cities to have meetings in person, then you will conduct your interactions with people abroad through videoconference, email, and on the telephone. Import-export of ideas, goods, and services will bring bright opportunity, as will any project involving publishing, broadcasting, and university instruction and study. This whole area will be your best, and if you open talks on April 14, you will be able to make impressive progress. If you were born on August 16 plus or minus four days, you will make the most of this gorgeous new chapter that is just beginning to open. Yet even if you were not born in mid-August, you will still notice a change for the better and a reason to be optimistic.
You will have to go slowly, though, because Mercury, the planet of intellect, communication, negotiation, signed and verbal agreements, transportation, and travel, will be retrograde from April 18 to May 11. Mercury in this phase is always a time when things go a bit haywire, for when Mercury retrogrades, he sleeps and withholds his best energies. Everyone, of every sign, will have to make do without the powerful help all of us have come to depend on from this planet. In your case, you can discuss ideas, but not seal agreements yet, verbally or in written form. For that you will have to wait until next month, just after the new moon, May 13.
What is interesting about this coming Mercury retrograde period is that this planet will slide backward in Taurus in your solar tenth house of career. Any decision you make during this phase, April 18 to May 11, is bound to be “off” and one you could easily regret later.
The rule of thumb is this: Any contract signed, or any verbal decision given, when Mercury is in retrograde needs to be renegotiated later, assuming that you’d even want to continue the business relationship, which might be doubtful. This month you will feel the effects of the impending retrograde as soon as April 8 or so, so as you see, you have a yellow blinking light for making any kind of final decision now. View April as a time to pay attention to details, discuss ideas, and search for new ones. Do careful research, but to also keep talks moving along very slowly. You won’t want to crystallize things until next month.
The good news is that the new moon next month will fall on May 13 (after the Mercury retrograde is over) and it will be in Taurus, lighting your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame. This is a very clear message that waiting will bring benefits and that moving quickly this month would be a bit reckless (even if you can’t see the truth of this yet). You may be pressured to make decisions, but resist as best you can. Next month the fog will clear, and it’s possible even better opportunities will emerge, ones that will outshine those that come up now. Or, it may be that obstacles you encounter this month may be overcome by next month. Be patient.
Meanwhile, Saturn will slide back into Virgo from April 7 to July 21, a sensitive place for you, for Saturn will be back in your earned income sector. You have struggled with money since September 2007 in one way or another, so hearing that Saturn is back to your second house of earned income is not likely to be news you had hoped to hear. Saturn exited Virgo last October 29, 2009 to spend a brief time in Libra, and that’s where Saturn will return to (Libra) in late July. Happily, this will be the last time in a long time that you will have to deal with Saturn in Virgo. When Saturn exits your financial sector on July 21, he will not be back to Virgo until October 2036. (Saturn in Libra is an easy place for you to host this taskmaster-teacher planet, so don’t even worry one bit about that. Libra is an air sign that only helps your fire element burn more brightly.)
There is something else to consider. From September 2007 to October 2009, the period when Saturn was challenging you in a financial way in your second house of earned income, you didn’t have much other cosmic help to soften this influence. In fact, you had Uranus, the planet of unexpected developments, being a thorn in your side too, sending you electrical bolts from your other financial house, the eighth house of credit. So you probably found employers to be tight-fisted when it came to offering you the salary you thought you could ask, while Uranus was likely forcing up balances on credit cards. (If you feel you did not have the type of monetary problems that I described, then you are a rare one, and you were fortunate indeed, for you are not representative of the norm. Be glad!)
No matter what financial situation you faced, the good news is that now the picture will change for the better, for this go-round with Saturn will be different. You now have Jupiter, the giver and gifts and luck, touring your house of financial dealings, commissions, and credit for the first time since 1998-early 1999. That coincidental visit of Jupiter that started in January 2010 will help you improve the whole complexion of your financial picture, especially in the coming 14 weeks. You are not going to see an exact re-run of the past two years because the surprises you get now will more likely be welcome, good ones. You CAN get a grip on your finances at long last and find the comfort and calm you long to see.
First, though, you may have a bit of a tight spot to get through when Saturn and Uranus oppose one another on April 26, a rare aspect. In anticipation of this, spend frugally throughout most of April, for you won’t know what is coming in terms of expenses. If you get no surprises, then good, and if you do, you’ll have the money to pay for them.
Saturn and Uranus do not meet in this configuration often. When they do, they have several confrontations, as these two had on November 4, 2008, February 5, 2009, September 15, 2009, and now, April 26, 2010. There will be one more confrontation, July 26, 2010, but by then Uranus and Saturn will be in Aries-Libra, highlighting a different and easier place in your chart. The last time these two planets had a series of meetings like the ones they are having now (in different signs), it was 1965-1967. The next time they will confront each other again (after July 2010) it will be 2056.
This month, you will have several days when your career and financial prospects dazzle. That will be on Saturday, April 17, when Jupiter and Venus will be in conversation, an aspect you could easily feel earlier, on Friday, April 16. Professional news should be wonderful. VIPs will notice you, and on April 16 or 17 may give you praise or possibly even discuss an eventual promotion or new job.
Then, on Friday, April 23, Venus and Uranus will be in friendly conversation too, and you’ll get a jolt of very happy news about work you’ve been doing in your career. Even though Mercury will be retrograde on these two days, you will get evidence that you are doing great work. This has to be a very motivating moment!
You are also in an unusually strong position because Mars is still in Leo, a development that started in mid-October. The problem has been that Mars was moving at very slow speed at the end of 2009, and on December 20, it shut down completely in retrograde. Mars perked up when he turned direct on March 10, but like a runner building power after a long sleep, it took Mars a while to get going. He will be moving nicely in April and will go even faster in May. A powerful planet is one that is moving rapidly, so this is all sensational news. You won’t have Mars in Leo again (after he leaves June 7) for two years, so make the most of it. When you have Mars in your own sign, others follow your lead - you have unusually strong powers of persuasion, courage, and leadership ability that can be put to good use.
As you get closer to the full moon April 28, your home, property, or family will be your main focus. It might be a good idea for you to plan to be back by then from any travels you may have scheduled for April. Pluto rules foundations of things, so you may be redoing your basement or family room, for example, changing walls or addressing any problems with your drainage systems.
You have excellent aspects to the financial planet Pluto, so it appears no matter what you plan to do for your home, you will be able to find the money you need, perhaps from a banker. Pluto is based in your work sector, so you may get side jobs, overtime, or new business (if you are self-employed), and that extra work may be enough to get started.
Romantically, the moment Venus moves into Gemini on April 25, your social life will begin to brighten. Venus will be in your friendship and group sector, so you may really enjoy social media at this time. It would be a good time to redo your Facebook page or join Twitter.
Venus will head into perfect position to flirt with Mars in Leo (to hit that sweet spot by May 7), but you need not have a perfect alignment to feel the benefits of this flirtatious vibe. You will feel the exciting social energy building at the end of April. In this way, the best will be saved for last. You will love May, especially from the mid-point onward - it’ll be an excellent month, in so many ways, including love!
Summary
It’s been a long winter, and now that nature has come alive with flowers and foliage, you want to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest. At the new moon April 14, call for brochures, take out your maps, and choose your location. Cities overseas are especially fortunate for you now, so choose a place on the map and book your tickets. (If you live “down under,” autumn is beckoning - take advantage of those crisp days in your hemisphere!)
If travel isn’t possible, then consider signing up for weekend seminars or workshops. With lots of energy brightening your ninth house, your mind is hungry for information that may fascinate you. You may want to see if your favorite author will be visiting a nearby bookshop or if the museum will be offering a special exhibit. The house so brilliantly lit for you is the one that presents us with a larger view of life so that we can decide our place in the universe. Don’t feel guilty about taking time away from your usual routine. Quite the contrary - the events you participate in this month will enliven all else that you do.
If you hope to become a citizen in a new country, or get a green card or visa in a foreign land, work on securing that at or just after April 14, for this will be a good time to investigate what’s involved and all that you have to do to qualify.
Publishing, broadcasting, and academic opportunities shine this month, too. If you hope to write for a new publication, send a query letter. If you hope to get a job as a producer at a TV station, this is your chance - make that call.
Financially, the first few months of 2010 may have brought upbeat news, but keep up your guard to avoid a repeat of the financial strains of last year. Saturn, now back in your second house of earned income, will oppose Uranus, planet of unexpected events, from financial houses of your horoscope on April 26. This will put extra emphasis on credit and loans. You may have an unexpected expense, or money you anticipated may be late or missing. Get past this date and you’ll be able to keep yourself in the black. Your chart shows erratic cash flow so, all in all, under these conditions, a conservative approach to money would work best.
As you get to the full moon, April 28, you may be ready to don a hard hat and finish up major change involving your home. With the help of Pluto’s friendly vibrations, you may be ready to tear out a wall or clear out the garage. Or, you may move, paint several rooms, or make needed repairs, and if so, it will be the perfect time to do so. Any sort of reorganization of space would bring long-range benefits and promote a lovely feeling of calm. The money you need to accomplish your home or property-related goal seems to be available, thanks to Pluto as well, so look for funds from a bank if you need them, or ask for extra work on the job. Overtime work or a side job could add up those funds.
Mercury will be retrograde from April 18 to May 11, so it would not be the time to buy expensive things, and especially not an electronic item. Allow as much space as possible around these dates. If you need to close on a house or condo, close on the house early in April. When Mercury is retrograde, it is not a time to sign papers or announce any big changes or news. Hold tight, ask questions, and wait for better days - those will come from the middle to the end of May.
Your career is about to bring big, exciting developments next month, but you’ll need to be ready. Venus’ tour of your reputation sector from April 1 to 24 indicates the word about your performance is quite spectacular, and has filtered to executives at the very top. Days when you’ll see just how valued you are at work are April 16, 17, and 23.You’ll be able to capitalize on this next month, so get ready with a list of accomplishments, a polished resume, and most importantly - a defined goal. If you know what you want, you may just get it next month.
Romantically, you have a bright outlook. Mars is still moving through Leo, making you the center of attention, so you should have no problem finding love. This is a rare trend that will end in early June. While you have this advantage, be sure to use it!
Venus will move through your eleventh house of friendship, new acquaintances, and events from April 25 to May19. You can count on Venus to add a light and breezy social influence to your calendar, and you’ll have plenty of reasons to hang with friends. With Jupiter, the planet ruling your house of true love, moving so close to Uranus, when love strikes, it will come like lightning! You may be caught off guard, but delightfully so!
Your best romantic dates will be: April 3, 12, 13, 17-18, 21-22, and especially at month’s end, 25-30. (Of these last week dates, April 30 will be best.)
Dates to Note
Travel to foreign countries or at a great distance from your city in your own country is very favored just after the new moon April 14.
Alternatively, you may decide to satisfy your hunger for new things to learn and do by taking courses and seminars. Do so in April’s second half.
Although finances have been looking up, you can’t let down your guard to control expenses. Watch for possible unexpected expenses now that Saturn will oppose Uranus on April 26.
With Saturn backing into your financial sector, you need to keep to a conservative course from April 7 to July 21. The royal Lion does not like scrimping or cutting back - so sorry to have to suggest the idea of tightening your belt. It’s only temporary.
Mercury will be retrograde from April 18 to May 11. Sign papers before or after, but not during this period. In fact, leave some room around these dates for best result. Can’t put off signing? Try, for if you sign, the deal will not proceed in the way you anticipate.
The full moon of April 28 may crystallize a move or find you reaching the final stage of a renovation.
Venus’ tour of your reputation sector from April 1 to 24 is great! The buzz about you is building! Next month even more will be said about you - all of it very positive!
In matters of romance, Mars in Leo is making you VERY attractive all month - until June 7. It’s time to mix and mingle!
Your best romantic dates are: April 3, 12, 13, 17-18, 21, 22, and especially the last week, April 25-30 (April 30 will be best).
